Last spring Penthouse magazine, after announcing the publication of topless photos of Anna Kournikova, had to pay a judgment and issue an apology to model Judith Soltesz-Benetton, the woman really in the pictures. On Miami Beach, Soltesz-Benetton had been seeking a suntan without lines when she was glimpsed by Frank Ramaesiri, a vacationing salesman from St. Louis, who mistook her for Kournikova, snapped photos and sold them to Penthouse. …

Bledsoe = Tough
It took Drew Bledsoe exactly two games to have the best passing day in 43 years of Buffalo Bills history. Bledsoe threw for 463 yards, three touchdowns and no picks against Minnesota, a bigger single-game yardage total than any compiled by Bills Hall of Famer Jim Kelly or Pro Bowl QBs Jack Kemp, Joe Ferguson and Doug Flutie. From the start of the fourth period through his winning toss in overtime, Bledsoe was 19 of 24 for 266 yards and two touchdowns. At one point in the fourth quarter, Bledsoe’s lip was cut; he went the sideline and had the cut stapled together without anesthesia, immediately returning to the game. Remember, this is a gentleman whom most of the league’s general managers did not want when he was placed on the trading block last winter, questioning his arm strength and spirit.

Ike Hilliard
New York Giants receiver Ike Hilliard will miss the rest of the season with a dislocated right shoulder suffered on a hit by All-Pro safety Brian Dawkins of the Philadelphia Eagles.
An MRI on Tuesday disclosed a tear in both Hilliard’s labrum and pectoralis muscle. He will undergo surgery in about a month and will at some point be placed on injured reserve.
Hilliard had 27 catches for 386 yards and a team-high two TD receptions. Despite missing almost all of his rookie season after undergoing neck surgery, the former Florida product has 259 career catches for 21 touchdowns. The reception total is the ninth-most in team history.

A Sad Day
With five games involving Top 25 teams Saturday, there was much shuffling in the rankings. The most significant moves were Iowa State cracking the top 10 for the first time at No. 9, and Florida (4-3) dropping out after a run of 209 consecutive polls.
The Gators, 36-7 losers to LSU, had taken over the longest-running poll streak from Nebraska, which fell out three weeks ago after a record run of 348 in a row.

BlogTree
Once again I am probably several months behind on this one, but everyone knows I’m a sucker for a good meme. And it’s not my fault, I swear! I’ve just been working triple-time for the last few months. Anyway …
Here is my “blog family tree” from BlogTree.com. Look at all those siblings I have! Now, I know I have at least five other children … c’mon kiddies. Gimme some cred.

Pro v. College
I think the University of Miami set back its greatest-team-in-college-football-history pursuit a few notches Saturday with an extremely fortunate 28-27 win over Florida State, coming from 13 down to do it. I talked to a few people around the league in the past few days about the top barstool question in the land: Could the best college team in a given year beat the worst pro team?

Fortune Cookie
Nice. I’ve previously ranted about getting crappy fortunes in fortune cookies. Today I got the fortune: “You will inherit a large sum of money.”
Sounds good to me.
Papa’s got bills to pay, brutha.
