Where to ping

#WordPress Wednesday: Ping Services

Ping UpdatesEvery time you post an entry, you want the world to know. If you tell it to do so, the WordPress engine will notify several site update services with a ping to let them know that there’s something new on your site. On the “Settings” panel, at the bottom of the “Write” tab, there is a section labeled Update Services. By default there are a few services listed here, but if you take a minute to add some other popular ones, you should see a nice little traffic increase.

Here are the update services I ping every time I add a new post:

  • http://ping.blo.gs/

Previously included in the list but apparently no longer functioning (or no longer operating as ping services):

What Is This?

davidgagne.net is the personal weblog of me, David Vincent Gagne. I've been publishing here since 1999, which makes this one of the oldest continuously-updated websites on the Internet.

bartender.live

A few years ago I was trying to determine what cocktails I could make with the alcohol I had at home. I searched the App Store but couldn't find an app that would let me do that, so I built one.
