Killer Headphones

Sunday, November 9, 2008

similar to theseThis year, for my 35th birthday, my brother-in-law gave me a pair of Shure SE210 Sound Isolating Headphones. They are unquestionably the best headphones I’ve ever had. The sound quality is amazing; the highs are high, the lows are low, and everything is crystal clear. They also come with about a dozen different sizes of earbuds, so it’s likely that one set will work perfectly. My favorites are the foam-type that can be squeezed to shape and then expand in the ear for a great fit. They do an awesome job of blocking outside noises and they are the perfect airplane headphones.

Late Christmas Presents

Wednesday, February 22, 2006

Danger Mouse!A package arrived at my apartment today. It was a box of (late) Christmas presents from my little sister. (She’s not known for promptness.) Each item is fabulous and is listed here in order of fabulousness:

  1. an egg-laying rubber chicken – one of the most amazing gifts I’ve ever received
  2. Danger Mouse Seasons 1 & 2 DVD — The World’s Smallest Secret Agent
  3. Adventure Joe Bender — just plain cool
  4. Nose Pencil Sharpener — extra cool because I’ve been complaining for months that there are no pencil sharpeners in my office
  5. a copy of You’ve Got It Made, Snoopy, by Charles Schulz, 1974 — I love Peanuts.
  6. an assortment of Rocky & Bullwinkle stickers
  7. a Bert Pez dispenser — I really have no idea why my sister sends me a Pez dispenser for every possible holiday, but she always finds interesting ones.
  8. a wee and tiny pack of Bicycle playing cards — very handy!

a long day

Monday, June 26, 2000

Yesterday was a long day. It was, after all, my birthday. I really only get to grossly force everyone to pay attention to me once each year, so I like to take advantage. True, I spend the other 364 days of the year trying to get you to pay attention to me, but those days don’t really count. To everyone who has played along with me, my profound thanks. To the sweetheart that send me an eCard, it was a little tacky, but I loved it. To the silly fools who left me voice mail, I love you. To the many of you that sent me eMail, you are wonderful. To those of you who blogged me, even maliciously, you made my day. To those of you who don’t know I exist, I’m sorry you’re missing it.

Our story begins with our intrepid hero sitting at home waiting for the Time-Warner cable guy(s) to bless me with blazing speed. “Sign right here,” he said. “I’ll be here between 10 and noon on Monday,” he said. I spent the morning working on something called a Packaging List Pass-Out Form. I also drank two cups of coffee. Sylvia did laundry and went to check out a gym which we might join. I blogged intermittently.

Birthday Wishes

Saturday, June 24, 2000

Happy birthday Aunt Audre!
Happy birthday Jason!

If anyone is still working on birthday presents for *me* … I could really use a new belt. I basically have only one good belt, and it’s black, so it doesn’t - y’know - look good with brown. Am I making sense? Probably not. The thing is, see, I really want a pair of brown 8-eyelet Docs and I don’t have a good excuse because all I have is black ones now. I also seem to have run out of notches in my belt. This is not because my gut is … <warning! my only internet joke is coming!> … eNormous, though. The belt is the same one I wore to my high school graduation I think. (Or maybe I got it my first year of college. Whatever. That’s not really the point.) So, to sum up: I want a new belt. I have no notches. Is this clear?
