SuperBowl Video Sets Record for Sales

Wednesday, March 13, 2002

The plot held no secrets, the characters were familiar, and yet neither the players nor fans who gathered at the premiere of the New England Patriots’ Super Bowl highlight video seemed to care that they saw most of the material before.

Although it first went on sale this week, the video has already set a record for sports videos, according to Joe Amodei, the president of the production company. A total of 400,000 videotapes and DVDs have already been shipped, he said — thanks to the drama of the game, the passion of the Patriots’ fans and the fact that 10 minutes of the halftime U2 concert was included.

WebCam Movie

Wednesday, February 7, 2001

I stole an idea from Bry and decided to run a little “best of” movie in place of my regular cam shot. Don’t despair. You can still click on the photo to pop open a floating window to see what I’m doing at the moment (as long as the cam is recording).
I used a little proggie called Animator9 that I found at NoNags.com to make the video. It took me about 5 minutes to find the cam shots scattered around dg.net and maybe 2 minutes to make the video from them.

organization

On organizing movies:
That’s interesting. I hadn’t even noticed that I meticulously order all my CDs, but not the stacks and stacks of VHS tapes that we’ve collected. They are *almost* completely random. At the old place in G-ville there was one rack where I put the best of the best (Star Wars trilogy, Indiana Jones trilogy, the Natural, Bull Durham, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, the Pirates of Penzance, Witness, Amazon Women on the Moon, Airplane, Swingers, etc.) but they were all just scattered. We still haven’t gotten an entertainment center at the new place, so now everything is in boxes on the floor. Maybe I’ll categorize the movies somehow when I finally have a place to put them.
