S o … I just got back from a beer run to the Gator City Citgo down on Archer Rd. In the car I was listening to the Stray Cats and I realized something: When I was, oh, about 14 or 15 my dad used to listen to these Cats. Somehow (okay, it was Sylvia) I got stuck with yet another Columbia House subscription a few months ago and have been trying to finish off the edges of my CD collection by filling in the obvious gaps with must buy CDs instead of the usually totally boner pick-of-the-month from CH. Last month I saw and ordered (on-line, of course) the Stray Cats compilation CD. It came in the mail yesterday and I popped it into my car CD player as I left the hizouse just now.
Have you ever heard the song Sexy + 17? It is fabulous!
S o … I’m driving along and listening to this song and I realize (yes, I’m just now getting to that part) that this song has been a huge part of my life, even though I probably haven’t heard it in a decade.
Hey, man / I don’t feel like going to school no more / Me neither! / They can’t make me go! / Oh no, daddy-oh! / … / It’s a dollar to get in and 25 cents a beer / They play rock n’ roll music like it hasn’t been rocked for years …
What the hell am I talkin’ about?! I don’t know. Maybe it’s just a great song and I don’t know what I’m talking about. That happens sometimes. But it’s a really great song.
