Spurrier gone

January 4th, 2002 @ 11:28 am PST

ESPN, citing a Gainesville Sun story, confirmed that Steve Spurrier resigned today as UF’s coach, presumably to make himself available for NFL jobs. The Sun’s website is down at the moment (no doubt under the load), but I think I can hear Tony Dungy in Tampa checking his voicemail messages to see if he still has a job.
