Never Going Back to New Jersey

October 9th, 2012 @ 9:30 am PDT

I just finished a 5.85 mi run with a pace of 9'43"/mi with Nike+ Running. http://t.co/w99yWKCV #nikeplus

I had a good run this morning. I added a few detours to stretch it a bit. I think on my next trip I’ll add another loop so I hit six miles. I have 259 days until I turn forty.

It’s been more than nine weeks since my mom died, and it’s becoming slightly, slightly easier to make it through my whole run without experiencing the overwhelming urge to drop to the ground in tears screaming, “Why? Why?” or something else equally melodramatic.

Here’s the music I heard on this trek:

  • Radio — Hot Water Music
  • Christian’s Inferno — Green Day
  • Life in Technicolor ii — Coldplay
  • It Ought to Be Easier — Lyle Lovett
  • Folding Chair — Regina Spektor
  • Hit the Road Jack — Ray Charles
  • I’ve Just Seen a Face — The Beatles
  • Jesus of Suburbia (live) — Green Day
  • Combat Baby — Metric
  • Never Going Back to New Jersey — Less Than Jake
  • C’mon, C’mon — The Von Bondies
  • How You Like Me Now — The Heavy
  • Under Smithville — For Squirrels
