NOAA Satellites and Information

NOAA Satellites and Information September 1st, 2004 @ 9:38 pm PDT

The threat of an earthquake hitting southern California is not really something that can keep you worrying all night. For all intents and purposes an earthquake is unpredictable. There is little to no humidity, and I haven’t seen a cockroach in four years now. I honestly must admit, though, that I miss this sort of […]

Reefer Madness by Eric Schlosser

Reefer Madness by Eric Schlosser August 7th, 2004 @ 1:17 am PDT

I am apparently in a reading frenzy these days. I just knocked off Reefer Madness: Sex, Drugs, and Cheap Labor in the American Black Market by Eric Schlosser. The book is not all about marijuana, although it would certainly be compelling enough if it was only concerned with that one topic. Instead it’s three essays […]

The Devil in the White City

The Devil in the White City August 5th, 2004 @ 7:53 pm PDT

I forgot to mention that I also recently read The Devil in the White City, by Erik Larson. This was an excellent read. It’s a true story about the Chicago World’s Fair and … uhm … a serial killer. I really don’t want to give away too much of the tale, but if you’re simultaneously […]

Flyboys, by James Bradley

Flyboys, by James Bradley July 31st, 2004 @ 8:47 am PDT

I just finished reading Flyboys: A True Story of Courage. My girlfriend’s little sister gave it to me for Christmas, which is some indication of how busy I’ve been this year. It’s a fascinating book, and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in learning more about WWII. It focuses mainly on captured Navy pilots […]

Multiple iPods July 28th, 2004 @ 8:18 am PDT

Aaarrghh. I have just got to get the new one. My iPod quickly became my favorite toy. My girlfriend gave me a 20gb one for Christmas. I upgraded to the 40gb in January, and I listen to it daily. iTunes is even a damn good WinAMP and / or MusicMatch replacement, and Apple did an […]

less than you hoped for

less than you hoped for July 14th, 2004 @ 11:03 pm PDT

from me on your big day, love, isn’t this sweet? I’m breaking out and running blinded into the street. This one can’t wait, I’m so ashamed. Sorry, I regret to say that you have made such a big mistake. Still, I’m in line to see the hit parade. I was late. Why? I went to […]

Potter Mania

Potter Mania July 1st, 2004 @ 9:57 am PDT

Lucy Holden of Rowling’s publishers Bloomsbury said: “We don’t want to spoil the title but it has been hinted at on Rowling’s website, and we can now confirm the title will be Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince.” The fifth book, “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix“, sold 1.77 million copies on […]
