Via the always-magnificent Laura Olin comes this excellent Food & Wine essay about Decoding Carmy’s Cookbook Shelves on The Bear. I love, love, love this show and really hope there’s a third season on the way.

The “Fishes” episode (S2E6) has been analyzed to death by everyone else, but I will say that — as someone who also was raised in a 100% Italian / dysfunctional household in the late 80s — it was like watching a home movie for me. I was paralyzed and transfixed and Jamie Lee Curtis is a national treasure.

Update: Christopher Storer, creator of The Bear and writer/director of that episode, did this commercial for Coca-Cola that’s just as intense.

A few years ago I was trying to determine what cocktails I could make with the alcohol I had at home. I searched the App Store but couldn't find an app that would let me do that, so I built one.
